Delay Spray for Men

Delay spray for men is a topical anaesthetic. The active ingredient in everything on this page is lidocaine at 10 percent, the same compound a dentist uses, at a low concentration, on skin rather than injected.

How delay spray works

It reduces sensation where you put it. Less sensation means less stimulation reaching the nervous system, so it takes longer to finish.

That is the mechanism. All of it. There is nothing else going on.

It is temporary, it is local, and it reverses completely as the lidocaine wears off, usually inside an hour or two.

Does delay spray actually work

For most men, yes, in the narrow sense of numbing skin so climax takes longer. Topical lidocaine is well understood and it does what it says.

What it does not do is anything lasting. It will not train you, it will not build up over weeks, and the effect ends when the drug does.

Get the dose wrong and it works too well. Too much and you feel very little, which is its own problem and the most common complaint in this category.

What it is not

A delay spray is not a treatment for premature ejaculation. It does not affect hormones. It is not comparable to Viagra, which works on blood flow and has nothing to do with sensation.

We are being plain about this because most copy in this category is not. If finishing early is a persistent worry for you, that is a conversation with a doctor rather than a purchase. How to use delay spray

Apply to the head and shaft three to ten minutes before sex.

Start with two or three sprays. You can add more next time. Over-applying is the single most common mistake and it is not a pleasant one to correct mid-way.

Rub it in until it is absorbed.

Then wash the area before contact. Residual spray transfers to a partner and numbs them too. This matters more than any other instruction here, and it is the thing most people find out the hard way.

Patch test on your inner arm the first time you use a new one.

Side effects, honestly

There is no such thing as a spray with no side effects, whatever the packaging says. At 10 percent topical lidocaine, most men get nothing beyond the numbness they were after. Here is the full list anyway.

Transfer to your partner. The most common one by far, and completely avoidable by washing.

Too much numbness. Difficulty finishing at all, or losing the erection because you cannot feel enough.

Burning or stinging on application. Usually the alcohol carrier rather than the lidocaine. Alcohol-free formulations exist and the Invigra is one.

Skin irritation or rash. Uncommon. Stop if it appears.

Allergic reaction. Rare but real. Do not use it at all if you have a known lidocaine or amide-anaesthetic allergy.

Do not apply to broken skin, do not use it internally, keep it away from eyes and mouth. If you have a heart condition, liver disease, or take regular medication, check with a doctor first, because lidocaine is absorbed through skin in small amounts.

And it is not a contraceptive and gives no protection against STIs.

Those numbers on the bottle

25000. 48000. 240000. They mean nothing.

They are not concentration, not dose count, not duration in seconds, not anything measurable. They are manufacturer branding, and the number going up does not make the spray stronger.

Lidocaine or benzocaine

Both numb. Lidocaine is an amide anaesthetic, benzocaine is an ester. Lidocaine tends to act faster and is what we stock, at 10 percent.

Allergy matters here: if you react to one class you may be fine with the other, which is worth knowing before you assume all delay sprays are out.

Ayurvedic and herbal sprays

We do not sell them. Products marketed as ayurvedic or herbal delay sprays either contain an anaesthetic and do not say so, or contain nothing that numbs and rely on you not noticing.

Storage

Room temperature, out of sunlight, cap on. Check the expiry date on the bottle. These do not last forever, and a 45 ml bottle takes a long time to finish.
