The types, and what each is for

Buying discreetly in India

Every order goes out in a plain outer box. No brand name, no product description, nothing on the label that indicates what is inside. The sender name on the parcel is not the store name.

Card, UPI and cash on delivery all work, including in tier-2 and tier-3 cities. Cash on delivery means nothing appears on a statement, which is the part people usually want to know.

Materials, and what to avoid

Body-safe silicone is non-porous, sterilises properly and lasts years. ABS plastic is hard, non-porous and transmits vibration efficiently, which is why bullets use it. Both are safe.

Be wary of soft rubbery material not identified as silicone. Jelly and PVC are porous, cannot be sanitised, and degrade into a tacky surface. Every product here states its material, and a listing anywhere that will not has answered the question.

Do not improvise

Household objects come up in search often enough to be worth addressing. Three problems, all of them real.

Power, noise and living arrangements

Hygiene

Wash before and after every use with warm soapy water or a dedicated toy cleaner, and dry completely before storing, because damp storage is how toys go bad.

Never move an insertable from anal to vaginal use without cleaning it thoroughly or changing the condom. That one is not flexible.

Store silicone items apart from each other. Some silicones react in prolonged contact and go sticky.

When to see a doctor

Pain during penetration that persists, bleeding that is not your period, or a change in discharge or smell after using a toy is worth an appointment rather than a different toy.

Pain during sex is common, treatable, and worth investigating. No toy fixes it.
